形近字 - Characters of Similar Shape
【形近字 - Characters of Similar Shape】Some Chinese characters look very similar in shape.
They are easy to confuse. They look similiar in shape but each may have a different meaning and pronunciation.
They cannot be interchanged. Table above list most common characters in HSK which are easy to confuse.
To differentiate them, (1) carefully examine similarities and differences between them in terms of SIM (Sound, Image and Meaning); and practise how to write them. For example, 已 and 己 are so
similar that it is hard to find the difference. First one is 已 as in 已经(yǐjīng);
and the second one is 己 as in 自己(zìjǐ).
(2) remember phrases which contain these characters; and even sentences which contain all these characters. For example, for about 己 and 已, remember phrases 自己 and 已经.
A sentence such as "我自己 已经会做饭了" would be even more helpful.
Characters from current text do not have similar ones in shape.
